Quick answer
How do I test my website from other countries?
Static proxies for geolocation QA let testers load their own website or app from a fixed IP in each target country and check redirects, currency, language and legal banners. SteadyProxy rents ISP IPs from $2.24 and datacenter IPs from $1.34 per 30 days as of October 2026, paid in crypto with no KYC. The IP stays the same, so every test run is repeatable.
What are the key facts?
| What you test | Geo redirects, currency, language, prices, consent banners, content rights |
|---|---|
| Test matrix | 1 IP per country; 2 per country to test ISP and datacenter visitors |
| 10-country matrix | $20.86 (ISP) or $12.69 (datacenter), 30 days |
| Countries with pages | UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Japan, Canada, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, plus US IPs |
| Location check | https://ipinfo.io/json through the proxy |
| Protocols | HTTP, HTTPS (CONNECT) and SOCKS5 |
| Stock | Availability varies by country; the checkout shows what is online |
What can geolocation QA catch before users do?
Geolocation QA catches errors that only appear from abroad. Common ones:
- a French visitor sent to the UK English page;
- prices in USD for an Australian visitor instead of AUD;
- prices without VAT in the EU, where consumer prices usually include it;
- no consent banner for UK or EU visitors;
- a left-to-right layout for Arabic pages in the UAE or Saudi Arabia;
- missing Japanese fonts, or a video blocked by its licence in one market.
Each one costs sales or creates a legal problem, and none shows up when testing from your own office.
Why does a fixed IP make QA repeatable?
A fixed IP gives the same location answer on every run. With rotating IPs, a failing test may pass on the next run only because the IP changed city or country. With the same IP for 30 days, a developer can reproduce the bug, fix it and re-run the exact test. Record the IP and the location reported by the geolocation database your site uses in each test report.
Which checks belong in a country test matrix?
One row per country with a page on this site. Add the United States if you sell there.
| Country | Currency | Checks to add |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | GBP | UK GDPR consent banner, VAT-inclusive prices |
| Germany | EUR | German language, Impressum link, consent banner |
| France | EUR | French language, consent banner, VAT display |
| Netherlands | EUR | Dutch or English, iDEAL shown at checkout if you offer it |
| Japan | JPY | Japanese fonts, prices without decimals |
| Canada | CAD | English and French versions, taxes shown at checkout |
| Australia | AUD | GST-inclusive prices |
| United Arab Emirates | AED | Arabic right-to-left layout, English option |
| Saudi Arabia | SAR | Arabic right-to-left layout |
How do I check which location the IP reports?
Request a geolocation service through the proxy and compare its answer with your site's behaviour. The script below prints the IP, country, city and network seen by ipinfo.io. Set the four environment variables from your dashboard. Databases can disagree: your site may use MaxMind or IP2Location, so also check the IP with the database your site uses. The Python guide covers sessions and SOCKS5.
import os
import requests
proxy = "http://{user}:{pw}@{host}:{port}".format(
user=os.environ["PROXY_USER"],
pw=os.environ["PROXY_PASS"],
host=os.environ["PROXY_HOST"],
port=os.environ["PROXY_PORT"],
)
resp = requests.get(
"https://ipinfo.io/json",
proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy},
timeout=20,
)
info = resp.json()
print(info.get("ip"), info.get("country"), info.get("city"), info.get("org"))
Should I test with ISP or datacenter IPs?
Test with the IP class your users have. Shoppers usually come from consumer ISP networks; business users and cloud services often come from datacenter networks. Some sites and video services treat hosting networks differently, so a page can work from one class and fail from the other. A two-row matrix per country costs $2.24 plus $1.34 for 30 days. ISP (static residential) IPs are registered to consumer internet service providers but run on servers in datacenters, not on home devices.
What should you not do in geolocation QA?
Test only sites and apps that you own or are contracted to test. Do not use the IPs to watch or download content outside the regions its licence allows. Do not run load tests through the proxy: Billed per IP and per 30 days, not per GB; fair use applies. Blocked targets: Banking, government, payment-portal and ticketing sites, plus SMTP (email-sending) ports 25, 465 and 587. And do not use a QA project as cover for collecting competitors' pages at volume. See the acceptable use policy.
What else do buyers ask?
How many IPs does a geolocation test matrix need?
One per country you test, or two if you test ISP and datacenter visitors separately. Nine countries need 9 IPs: the 10-IP ISP plan costs $20.86 and the 10-IP datacenter plan $12.69 for 30 days. The spare IP can cover the United States.
Why does my site show the wrong country for a proxy IP?
Your site's geolocation database may place the IP differently from the one you checked. Compare the result from https://ipinfo.io/json with your database's answer. If the IP sits in the wrong country in both, write to support: If an IP does not work, write to support: we repair it or replace it with another IP in the same country when stock allows.
Can I test city-level content?
A city can be chosen only when the checkout lists it; otherwise the IP is allocated in the country you pick. City data in IP databases is less precise than country data, so city-level tests can give mixed results. Test city logic with a city the checkout lists, and accept that one database may report a nearby city.
Can I use the IPs in automated test suites?
Yes. Playwright, Selenium and plain HTTP clients accept a proxy with username and password. Our Playwright guide shows the setup. Run the suite at a normal pace: a QA run is a few hundred page loads, not a load test.
Do mobile app tests work through the proxy?
Yes, if the device or emulator can use an HTTP or SOCKS5 proxy. HTTP, HTTPS (CONNECT) and SOCKS5. Note that a mobile app may also read the device's GPS or SIM country, so set those in the emulator to match the IP.
Does the IP keep its location for the whole rental?
The IP stays the same for the 30-day rental. Geolocation databases update their data over time, so a database could change the city or, rarely, the country it reports. Record the reported location in each test report, so a change is visible.
