Quick answer
What is an ISP proxy?
An ISP proxy is a static IPv4 address registered to a consumer internet service provider but hosted on servers in a datacenter. Websites see the ISP's network (ASN), while the traffic runs on datacenter hardware. SteadyProxy rents ISP proxies, also sold as static residential proxies, per IP for 30 days. One IP costs $2.24 as of October 2026, with no KYC and crypto payment.
What are the key facts about ISP proxies?
| Registered to | A consumer internet service provider: the ASN and WHOIS record name an ISP |
|---|---|
| Runs on | ISP (static residential) IPs are registered to consumer internet service providers but run on servers in datacenters, not on home devices |
| Address | One IPv4 address, fixed for the whole 30-day rental |
| Other name | Static residential proxy (same product) |
| Allocation at SteadyProxy | Each static IP is rented to one customer for the whole 30-day period; reselling or sharing access with third parties is not allowed |
| Protocols | HTTP, HTTPS (CONNECT) and SOCKS5 |
| Authentication | Username and password, or an IP allowlist (up to 10 IPs) |
| Price at SteadyProxy | $2.24 for 1 IP; down to $1.34/IP · 30 days at 100 IPs |
How is an ISP proxy different from residential and datacenter proxies?
An ISP proxy mixes the two: the registration of a residential IP and the hosting of a datacenter IP. A rotating residential proxy sends traffic through connections on consumer networks and usually changes IP per request or per session. A datacenter proxy uses an address of a hosting network, such as a cloud or server company. The ISP proxy keeps one address for weeks, like a datacenter IP, but its registry record points to a consumer ISP. The full comparison is on ISP vs residential vs datacenter proxies.
Which proxy type is registered where, and runs where?
| Type | IP registered to | Traffic runs on | IP changes? | Usual billing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ISP proxy (static residential) | Consumer ISP | Servers in a datacenter | No, fixed for the rental | Per IP |
| Rotating residential proxy | Consumer ISP | Connections on consumer networks | Yes, per request or session | Per GB |
| Dedicated datacenter proxy | Hosting network | Servers in a datacenter | No, fixed for the rental | Per IP |
Why is an ISP proxy called static residential if it runs in a datacenter?
The word residential describes the registration, not the hardware. The IP block belongs to a broadband or consumer ISP, so IP databases may label it as an ISP network. The server that answers on that IP sits in a datacenter. Large vendors say this openly: Oxylabs and Decodo both describe their ISP proxies as hosted in datacenters (pages checked on 19 October 2026). We explain the full picture, with WHOIS and ASN checks, in are static residential proxies really residential?.
What does a website see when you use an ISP proxy?
A website sees the proxy's IP address, never yours. From that IP it can look up three things. First, the ASN and organisation name, which for an ISP proxy is the ISP. Second, a location from an IP database, usually the country and often a city. Third, any reverse DNS name. You can see the same data with one command:
# What network and place does a website see behind your ISP proxy?
curl -s -x "http://USERNAME:[email protected]:7777" https://ipinfo.io/json
# Look at "org": the ASN and the name of the network the IP is registered to
When is an ISP proxy the right choice?
Choose an ISP proxy when a task needs the same IP for weeks and an ISP network name helps. Typical legitimate uses:
- managing your own or your clients' business accounts, one stable IP per account;
- your own marketplace seller accounts;
- local price, ad and search-result checks from one country or city;
- SEO rank tracking from a fixed place;
- B2B IP allowlisting for firewalls, admin panels and APIs;
- QA and geolocation testing of your own site.
For allowlisting only, a cheaper dedicated datacenter proxy is often enough: the destination checks the IP, not its network type.
What are the limits of an ISP proxy?
An ISP proxy is not a home connection, and some IP databases may still flag its range as hosting. It does not rotate, so it is the wrong tool for large crawls that need many IPs. Choice is limited by stock. Availability varies by country; the checkout shows what is online. A specific ISP or ASN can be ordered only when the checkout lists it; check the registered network of each IP after delivery. All use falls under our acceptable use policy. Some targets are blocked: Banking, government, payment-portal and ticketing sites, plus SMTP (email-sending) ports 25, 465 and 587.
What else do people ask about ISP proxies?
Is an ISP proxy the same as a static residential proxy?
Yes, in almost every offer on the market. Static residential proxy is the marketing name, ISP proxy is the technical one. Both mean an IPv4 address registered to a consumer ISP, kept fixed for the rental, and hosted on servers. SteadyProxy uses both names for the same product on its static residential proxies page.
Is an ISP proxy a real home internet connection?
No. The IP is registered to an ISP, but the machine behind it is a server in a datacenter. ISP (static residential) IPs are registered to consumer internet service providers but run on servers in datacenters, not on home devices. That is why the IP stays online and fixed for 30 days. If a provider claims real home connections for a static IP, ask how the IP stays fixed when a home router restarts.
Does an ISP proxy change its IP address?
Not during the rental. At SteadyProxy each IP stays fixed for its 30-day period. After the end date, things change: Renewal is manual, from your balance, before the end date. Keeping the same IP after the end date is not guaranteed, so renew on time and check your IP list after renewing. You can verify stability yourself with the hourly test in how to check if a proxy is static.
Can I choose the ISP or the ASN of my proxy?
Only when the checkout offers it. A specific ISP or ASN can be ordered only when the checkout lists it; check the registered network of each IP after delivery. The country is always your choice. A city can be chosen only when the checkout lists it; otherwise the IP is allocated in the country you pick. After delivery, open ipinfo.io/json through each IP and read the org field to see the registered network.
Which protocols do SteadyProxy ISP proxies support?
HTTP, HTTPS (CONNECT) and SOCKS5. Each static IP comes with its own host, port, username and password in your dashboard. Most tools use the HTTP port; SOCKS5 suits apps that do not speak HTTP. Setup steps are in our SOCKS5 static proxy guide and the Python guide.
Is my ISP proxy shared with other customers?
No. Each static IP is rented to one customer for the whole 30-day period; reselling or sharing access with third parties is not allowed. Dedicated means one customer per IP during the rental. It does not mean the IP has no history: IPv4 addresses are reused over the years, so check how a target treats your IP in the first hours.
How much does an ISP proxy cost at SteadyProxy?
As of October 2026, one ISP IP costs $2.24 for 30 days, 10 IPs cost $20.86 and 100 IPs cost $133.88. For comparison, MarsProxies charged $27.81 for 10 ISP IPs per 30 days on 19 October 2026, per its pricing page. Full dated comparisons are on the price index and pricing pages.
