Quick answer

What do static proxy terms like ASN, ISP proxy and /24 mean?

This static proxy glossary defines the terms used on SteadyProxy pages. In short: an ASN identifies the network that announces an IP; an ISP proxy is an IP registered to a consumer ISP but hosted in a datacenter; a /24 subnet is a block of 256 IPv4 addresses. SteadyProxy rents such IPs for 30 days, from $2.24 as of October 2026, with no KYC and crypto payment.

How do these terms apply to SteadyProxy?

Proxy types soldISP (static residential) and dedicated datacenter
RentalPer IP, 30 days
AllocationEach static IP is rented to one customer for the whole 30-day period; reselling or sharing access with third parties is not allowed
ProtocolsHTTP, HTTPS (CONNECT) and SOCKS5
AuthenticationUsername and password, or an IP allowlist (up to 10 IPs)
SubnetsSeveral IPs in one order can share the same /24 subnet; subnet diversity is not guaranteed

Which network and proxy terms are used?

ASN (autonomous system number)

A number that identifies a network on the internet, such as an ISP or a hosting company. Each IP block is announced by one ASN. A lookup of an IP's ASN tells you which network it belongs to, which is how websites tell ISP IPs from datacenter IPs.

ISP proxy

A proxy whose IP is registered to a consumer internet service provider but runs on a server in a datacenter. It looks like an ISP connection in registry data and stays fixed for the rental. At SteadyProxy, ISP (static residential) IPs are registered to consumer internet service providers but run on servers in datacenters, not on home devices.

Static residential proxy

The market's other name for an ISP proxy. "Residential" refers to the ISP registration of the IP, not to a home device. Most static residential products, ours included, are hosted on servers.

Datacenter proxy

A proxy whose IP is registered to a hosting network. Datacenter IPs cost less, but websites recognise them as hosting addresses more often. See dedicated datacenter proxies.

Dedicated proxy

An IP used by one customer at a time. Dedicated does not mean private or unused before: websites still see the IP, and it may have had other customers before your rental.

Shared proxy

An IP used by several customers at the same time. It costs less, but other users' traffic can affect how websites treat it. SteadyProxy does not sell shared IPs.

Rotating proxy

A proxy that gives you a different IP on each new connection or after a set time, from a large pool. It is billed per GB in most cases. SteadyProxy sells static IPs only.

Sticky session

A setting of rotating proxies that keeps the same IP for a limited time, usually minutes. A static IP needs no sticky session: it stays the same for the whole 30-day rental.

/24 subnet

A block of 256 IPv4 addresses that share their first three numbers, for example 203.0.113.0 to 203.0.113.255. Some websites treat all IPs of one /24 alike. Several IPs in one order can share the same /24 subnet; subnet diversity is not guaranteed.

Exit IP

The IP address that websites see when your traffic leaves the proxy. With a static proxy, the exit IP is the IP you rent.

IP allowlist

A list of source IPs allowed to use a service without another login. You can allowlist up to 10 of your own IPs on your SteadyProxy account, and a firewall or SaaS panel can allowlist the static IP you rent from us.

SOCKS5

A proxy protocol that carries any TCP traffic, not only web pages. Use it for tools that are not browsers. The socks5h scheme also sends DNS lookups through the proxy.

HTTP CONNECT

The method an HTTP proxy uses to open a tunnel for HTTPS traffic. The proxy forwards encrypted data and cannot read the page content.

Geolocation database

A commercial database that maps IPs to a country and a city. Databases disagree and update on their own schedule, so one IP can show different cities in different tools.

WHOIS

A public lookup service that shows who holds an IP block or a domain. A WHOIS lookup on an ISP proxy IP shows the ISP that holds the block.

RIR (regional internet registry)

One of five organisations that allocate IP blocks in a region and keep the WHOIS records: ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, LACNIC and AFRINIC.

Fair use

A rule that allows normal use of an IP without a fixed traffic limit, while heavy use that harms the network may be slowed or paused. At SteadyProxy: Billed per IP and per 30 days, not per GB; fair use applies.

Which account and payment terms are used?

KYC (know your customer)

Identity checks with ID documents or selfies. SteadyProxy has none: No KYC: no ID, no selfie, no documents to sign up, top up or buy.

Account number

Your login at SteadyProxy. Your account number is your login: save it somewhere safe. Add an email (optional) if you want a way to recover it. Without an email, a lost account number cannot be recovered.

Top-up

A crypto payment that adds money to your SteadyProxy balance. The minimum is $25; starting from a plan, the top-up is its exact price, or the minimum for a smaller plan.

TXID (transaction ID)

The public identifier of a blockchain transaction. Give it to support when you ask about a payment. A TXID alone does not prove who owns an account, because anyone can read it.

Network (blockchain)

The blockchain a coin travels on, such as Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20) for USDT. Always send on the network shown on the payment page.

Confirmation

A new block added after your transaction. A top-up is credited once it reaches the number of confirmations the payment page shows for its network.

Renewal

Paying for another 30 days of an IP you already rent. At SteadyProxy: Renewal is manual, from your balance, before the end date. Keeping the same IP after the end date is not guaranteed, so renew on time and check your IP list after renewing.
