**Quick answer — Should I use static or rotating residential proxies?**

In **static vs rotating residential proxies**, choose static when an account, an allowlist or a daily local check needs the same IP for weeks; choose rotating when a job needs many different IPs for a short time. **SteadyProxy** sells static only: ISP IPs from $2.24 per IP for 30 days as of October 2026, billed per IP and paid in crypto with no KYC. Rotating residential is usually billed per GB elsewhere.

## What are the key facts?

| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Static (ISP) proxy | One IP kept for the whole 30-day rental; billed per IP |
| Rotating residential proxy | New IP per connection or per sticky session; usually billed per GB |
| Static price | $2.24 for 1 IP / 30 days; down to $1.34/IP · 30 days at 100 IPs |
| Static hosting | ISP (static residential) IPs are registered to consumer internet service providers but run on servers in datacenters, not on home devices |
| Allocation | Each static IP is rented to one customer for the whole 30-day period; reselling or sharing access with third parties is not allowed |
| Static billing | Billed per IP and per 30 days, not per GB; fair use applies |
| SteadyProxy sells | Static ISP and dedicated datacenter IPs only |

## How do static and rotating residential proxies differ?

| Question | Static ISP proxy | Rotating residential proxy |
| --- | --- | --- |
| How long the IP lasts | The whole rental (30 days at SteadyProxy) | One request, or a sticky session set by the vendor |
| Where the IP comes from | ISP-registered IPv4 hosted on a datacenter server | Consumer connections in a vendor's peer network |
| How it is billed | Per IP | Per GB of traffic, usually |
| Daily login to the same account | Good fit: same IP every day | Poor fit: the IP changes |
| IP allowlisting | Works: one known address | Does not work: the address is unknown in advance |
| Broad public-data jobs | Limited by the number of IPs you rent | Good fit: load spread over many IPs |
| What drives the cost | Number of IPs | Traffic volume |
| Example cost | 10 IPs: $20.86 for 30 days | GB used x the vendor's price per GB |

## When does a fixed IP for 30 days beat a new IP per connection?

A fixed IP wins whenever the target remembers who you are. Five cases:

1. **Business account logins.** Your own or a client's account sees one IP every day, not dozens.
2. **IP allowlisting.** A partner firewall or SaaS panel can list one address; it cannot list a pool.
3. **Daily local checks.** SEO and ad checks from the same IP are comparable from one day to the next.
4. **Long sessions.** A 20-minute checkout test or an admin session does not break when the IP changes.
5. **Heavy traffic through few IPs.** Billed per IP and per 30 days, not per GB; fair use applies, so one IP at $2.24 costs the same whatever the traffic, within fair use.

## When does rotating residential beat static?

Rotating residential wins when a job needs many different IPs and little traffic per IP. Examples: reading thousands of public pages once each, sampling results from 50 cities on the same day, or spreading light public-data collection over a large pool. Renting hundreds of static IPs for 30 days to use each one for a few minutes costs far more than the traffic itself. SteadyProxy does not sell rotating proxies. If you buy them elsewhere, ask the vendor how its peers consent to share their connection.

## How do the costs compare?

Static cost is the number of IPs times the price per IP; rotating cost is the GB used times the price per GB. For static, 25 ISP IPs cost $50.46 for 30 days, down to $1.34/IP · 30 days at 100 IPs. Rotating per-GB prices vary by vendor and volume, and they were not part of our 19 October 2026 check, so we quote none. The rule: a static IP is the better deal as soon as it would carry more traffic in 30 days than $2.24 buys at your rotating vendor's per-GB rate.

## Is a static residential proxy really residential?

Not in the sense of a home connection. A static residential proxy, also called an ISP proxy, uses an IP registered to a consumer ISP but hosted on a datacenter server. ISP (static residential) IPs are registered to consumer internet service providers but run on servers in datacenters, not on home devices. A rotating residential proxy does exit through consumer connections, which is exactly why its IP changes. The [ISP vs residential vs datacenter comparison](https://steadyproxy.com/isp-vs-residential-vs-datacenter-proxies/) shows how IP databases label each type.

## Can you use static and rotating proxies together?

Yes, on separate jobs. Use static IPs for logins, allowlists and daily checks, and a rotating pool for broad public-data work. Never log in to the same account from both: the account would see one fixed IP and then many changing ones, which defeats the purpose of the static IP. The [keep or rotate guide](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/keep-or-rotate/) gives a decision checklist.

## What should you not use either type for?

Neither type may be used to break a target's rules or the law. At SteadyProxy, blocked targets are: Banking, government, payment-portal and ticketing sites, plus SMTP (email-sending) ports 25, 465 and 587. We also refuse creating or running extra accounts, fake engagement, credential attacks and ticket purchases. Abuse reports are reviewed by a person, and confirmed abuse leads to suspension. ## What else do buyers ask?

### Does SteadyProxy sell rotating residential proxies?

No. SteadyProxy rents static ISP (static residential) IPs from $2.24 and dedicated datacenter IPs from $1.34, per IP for 30 days. If your job needs a new IP for each request, buy a rotating residential product from a vendor that sells it per GB.

### Can I make a static IP rotate on demand?

No. A static IP stays the same for the rental; that is the product. If an IP does not work, If an IP does not work, write to support: we repair it or replace it with another IP in the same country when stock allows. To work with more addresses, rent more IPs: 10 ISP IPs cost $20.86 for 30 days.

### How long does a sticky session last on a rotating proxy?

It depends on the vendor and the plan, and it is usually counted in minutes or hours, not weeks. Read the vendor's documentation before you build a login workflow on it. When a workflow needs the same IP for days, a static IP is the safer choice.

### Can I keep a static IP longer than 30 days?

You renew it from your balance before the end date. Renewal is manual, from your balance, before the end date. Keeping the same IP after the end date is not guaranteed, so renew on time and check your IP list after renewing. Plan each renewal a few days ahead if a partner allowlist or a client account depends on the address.

### Is a static IP less likely to trigger security checks on logins?

A login that always comes from the same IP is more consistent than one from a changing pool, so many platforms ask for verification less often. We do not promise how any platform behaves. The first login from a new IP may still ask for a code.

### Is there a traffic limit on static IPs?

Billed per IP and per 30 days, not per GB; fair use applies. You pay per IP, so you do not count GB. Fair use means normal business traffic, not load tests or bulk downloads at full speed for the whole month.

### Are static datacenter IPs an option too?

Yes. A dedicated datacenter IP is also static and costs $1.34 for 30 days. It fits allowlists, APIs and QA, where the network type does not matter. Choose ISP for consumer-platform logins and local ad or SEO checks.
