Plain explanations and tested code for static ISP and datacenter IPs: what they are, how to check them, how many to buy and how to set them up.

**Quick answer — Where can I find static proxy guides?**

**SteadyProxy** static proxy guides cover 13 practical topics. They explain what an ISP proxy is and whether static residential IPs are really residential. They show how to check that an IP stays static, how many IPs to buy and why /24 subnets matter. Setup guides cover allowlisting, browsers, Python, Playwright, Selenium and SOCKS5. Every code sample was checked on 19 October 2026.

## What do the guides cover?

| Attribute | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Number of guides | 13 |
| Code languages | Python, Node.js (JavaScript), bash with curl, PowerShell, nginx |
| Test endpoints | api.ipify.org and ipinfo.io/json |
| Code checks | Python with py_compile, JavaScript with node --check, scripts run through a test proxy, 19 October 2026 |
| Products covered | ISP (static residential) and dedicated datacenter IPs, 30 days per IP |
| Price | From $2.24 per ISP IP and $1.34 per datacenter IP, 30 days, as of October 2026 |

## Which guides explain static IPs?

- **[What is an ISP proxy?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/what-is-an-isp-proxy/)** — An IPv4 address registered to a consumer ISP, hosted in a datacenter, fixed for the rental.
- **[Are static residential proxies really residential?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/are-static-residential-proxies-really-residential/)** — What residential really refers to, and how to read WHOIS, ASN and usage type yourself.
- **[How to check if a proxy is static](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/check-if-a-proxy-is-static/)** — Log the IP, ASN and location every hour for 24 hours with tested curl and Python scripts.
- **[How long does a static proxy last?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/static-ip-lifetime/)** — Rental, session and IP lifetime are three clocks; here is what each means for planning.
- **[How many static IPs do I need?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/how-many-static-ips/)** — Count one IP per account, client, location and allowlist, plus spares, with a worked example.
- **[Keep or rotate your proxy IP?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/keep-or-rotate/)** — A table of 9 tasks shows when a static IP fits and when rotation fits better.
- **[/24 subnet diversity](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/subnet-diversity/)** — Why IPs in one /24 share risk, and a script that counts your subnets.

## Which guides show the setup?

- **[How to allowlist a static proxy IP](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/ip-allowlisting/)** — Five steps from exit IP to a tested firewall or SaaS allowlist entry, with a backup.
- **[Browser proxy setup](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/browser-setup/)** — One profile per static IP in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, with a two-step check.
- **[Python Requests](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/python-static-proxy/)** — Tested code for one proxy, one IP per account, and the meaning of common errors.
- **[Playwright](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/playwright-static-proxy/)** — One static IP per browser or per context, in Python and Node.js.
- **[Selenium with Chrome](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/selenium-static-proxy/)** — Why a login in --proxy-server fails, and two working fixes: IP allowlist or a local forwarder.
- **[SOCKS5 setup](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/socks5-static-proxy/)** — curl, Python and Firefox over SOCKS5, with DNS resolved by the proxy.

## Where should I start?

Start with [what is an ISP proxy?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/what-is-an-isp-proxy/) if the product is new to you, then read [are static residential proxies really residential?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/are-static-residential-proxies-really-residential/) before you compare offers. If you already have IPs, run the [static IP test](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/check-if-a-proxy-is-static/) first, then open the setup guide for your tool. Terms such as ASN, CIDR and exit IP are defined in the [glossary](https://steadyproxy.com/glossary/). Plans and prices are on the [pricing page](https://steadyproxy.com/pricing/).

## What else do readers ask about these guides?

### Do the code samples work with any static proxy provider?

Yes. The scripts take a host, a port, a username and a password, which every static proxy provider supplies in some form. Our gateway host and ports appear only as defaults. Replace them with the values of your own IPs. The test endpoints, api.ipify.org and ipinfo.io, are public and work with any proxy.

### How were the code samples tested?

On 19 October 2026, every Python sample passed python -m py_compile and the JavaScript sample passed node --check. The Requests, SOCKS5, static-test and forwarder scripts also ran through a local test proxy that requires a username and password, against api.ipify.org and ipinfo.io. Browser automation samples were syntax-checked only.

### Where do I find the host, port and password for my IP?

In your dashboard. Your IP list (host, port, username, password, country, end date) appears in your dashboard once the IPs are allocated. Each static IP has its own four values, so copy them per IP rather than building them from a pattern. With the IP allowlist method, you need only the host and port.

### Which guide helps me choose between ISP and datacenter IPs?

Read [what is an ISP proxy?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/what-is-an-isp-proxy/) and [how many static IPs do I need?](https://steadyproxy.com/guides/how-many-static-ips/). The full product comparison is on [ISP vs residential vs datacenter proxies](https://steadyproxy.com/isp-vs-residential-vs-datacenter-proxies/). In short, choose ISP IPs when the ISP network name matters, and datacenter IPs for allowlists.

### Do the guides apply to every use?

They apply to legitimate uses only, such as managing your own or your clients' business accounts, local price and search checks, rank tracking, B2B allowlisting and QA testing. Every use must follow our [acceptable use policy](https://steadyproxy.com/acceptable-use/). Some targets are blocked on every IP: Banking, government, payment-portal and ticketing sites, plus SMTP (email-sending) ports 25, 465 and 587.

### How often are the guides updated?

Each guide shows its update date at the top, and this set was last reviewed on 19 October 2026. We re-check the code and the cited documentation when a tool changes its proxy options. Facts about our service come from the same source as our [pricing](https://steadyproxy.com/pricing/) and [FAQ](https://steadyproxy.com/faq/) pages.
